The University City Hospitality Coalition has been serving the homeless and hungry of Philadelphia since 1984.
The UCHC provides:
• Hot meals five nights a week and sandwiches on Saturday for poor and homeless persons in Philadelphia
• A medical clinic staffed by doctors and medical students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine to offer medical advice, vaccinations, screening tests, and referrals (provided at the Wednesday meal)
• A dental clinic staffed by dental students and dentists from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry to provide examinations and referrals (provided at the Wednesday meal)
• A legal clinic staffed by law students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law who answer questions on legal matters (provided at the Wednesday meal)
• A mailing address for homeless persons who need a permanent address to vote and to receive welfare checks, medical cards, and other mail
• Referral services for shelter, housing, food, and clothing
The UCHC fundraiser will be a fun event to connect the residents of Philadelphia with the Hospitality Coalition and students of the University of Pennsylvania. All of the proceeds will go directly towards covering the operating costs of the UCHC to ensure that the less fortunate of Philadelphia recieve much needed help.
